Joyce's Story
Joined the USAF,stationed in the Philippines,married 30 years,3 boys,3 grandkids, moved to Florida (The Land of the Lost). My youngest child(age 24)was shot and killed over a cell phone last year,oldest boy Ph.D. teaches at Salem University, middle child a Wall Street wizard.(proud mama) I am an RN,do volunteer medical work in Haiti,New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina,the Mississippi Delta,and the Medical Strike Team,sponsor a child in the Dominican Republic,in clothing export business,building a house in Barbados,world traveler,tatoo freak, cancer survivor,husband retired NYPD and USAF.
Just got back from Haiti last Thursday, 1/28. We went to the island we always go to. There was minimal damage. About 2 miles away down the mountain there were people starving to death. Literally. Most everything was crumbled and what wasn't people wouldn't go into for fear that there would be more crumbling. So everyone slept on the street. What just about destroyed me were the hungry and orphaned children. There are so many and child trafficking is commonplace. The kids are bought and sold into slavery. If only we could save each and every one of them...
Went to the Mississippi to observe their health care centers. Unfortunately the people in the Delta do not have the funds to pay. We are starting a new healthcare system for them. It is based on the Iranian health care system. The Iranians will be coming here in February 2011 to teach us more about their community outreach and to discuss our plans. Hope I can be there with them since the murder trials for my son have just begun.
